Top Fairness Opinions Firms

5 firms ranked · Methodology →

When a board approves a merger, acquisition, or major transaction, directors carry fiduciary duty to shareholders — and a fairness opinion is the independent check that the financial terms are fair from a financial point of view. Delivered by a qualified, conflict-free valuation or investment banking firm, the opinion protects boards, documents diligence, and gives shareholders an objective foundation for consequential decisions.

The firms ranked here provide fairness and solvency opinions across transaction types and sizes. Independence is the defining trait: the strongest opinions come from firms with no success fee riding on the deal closing.

Methodology

How firms are ranked

Each firm receives a score out of 100 built from five weighted components: verified client reviews (30%), professional credentials such as ASA, CVA, ABV, CFA, and MAFF (25%), the depth of services offered relative to the category (20%), the firm's operational scale (15%), and years in business (10%).

The score is refreshed whenever a review is approved or firm data changes, and overall ranks are recomputed on a schedule so movement reflects real changes, not noise. Within a category or service, we re-rank using the same score restricted to firms that actually offer that work.

Rankings cannot be purchased. Featured placement in the directory is clearly labeled and never affects rank.
